There are three main tests that can be performed to check a woman for breast cancer before she shows any outward signs of the disease. Make sure to ask your doctor which of these tests is right for you.

Screening

A mammogram is an xray picture of the breast. This type of picture can detect breast cancer at very early stages, long before you are at risk of dying form the disease. Have you had your yearly mammogram?

Mammogram

A breast exam performed by a nurse or doctor is known as a clinical breast exam. The doctor or nurse may be able to feel suspicious lumps or notice dangerous skin changes.

Clinical Breast Exam

We recommend that every woman perform an examination of her own breasts every month. Your should feel for any new lumps, look for any changes in your skin, and feel for changes in the armpit area of the breast.
