ATVIEW is a website intended to educate beginner and novice ATV riders on the dangers and hazards that all-terrain vehicles can present. Sadly, almost a quarter of riders in West Virginia that have been killed in the last few years have been under the age of 16. Unfortunately, the number of riders killed each year continues to climb, and West Virginia has one of the highest death rates per number of riders in the country.
Over the years, state lawmakers, rider groups, and even ATV manufacturers have pushed to get more training and safety education brought into the state, and they have lobbied laws that would make ATV use safer for everyone. Unfortunately these efforts have failed to produce a significant decline in injuries and deaths due to dangerous and improper use of all-terrain vehicles.
ATVs can be very useful and enjoyable, and by following just a few simple suggestions, they can be very safe vehicles. Each of you who view this website have probably ridden an ATV, and even know someone who has been injured on an ATV. This site is for you - a resource to help educate a new generation of safe, responsible ATV riders.
